4 THINGS YOU MUST NEVER DO AS A SCHOOL OWNER TO KEEP YOUR SCHOOL AT THE TOP, NUMBER 2 WILL SHOCK YOU!

To run a school effectively goes beyond hiring teachers, setting a curriculum and admitting students. While they are standards for schools as set by state and national bodies, there are unscripted you must abide with if you don’t want your school to close up or become one of those schools which barely get by.

If you find yourself practicing any of these then you may want to re-adjust.

  1. Excessive use of suspension tactic: now take the poll, how many students actually got better by serving days or weeks of suspension as punishment for an ill act? When you give students suspension, you inadvertently give them opportunity to engage in other activities which are largely none educational or even illicit. In the long run, you may only have turned some of your students into unruly young people. You should consider restorative measures such as making such students leaders of projects.
  2. Excessive homework: for many schools, giving homework isn’t aimed at increasing student’s intelligence but to merely keep such student busy at home. At its best, this induces so much work without overall development of the student’s abilities as the student finds less time to enjoy other facets of life like socializing and learning helpful skills.
  3. Scraping out breaks and art programs: the human brain wasn’t designed to engage in intellectual activities without rest. Cutting out breaks reduces the student’s ability to rest his brain for further studies and also increases drudgery for teachers. What is the essence of education if what is learned cannot be expressed? Art activities such as painting competitions, choir and games don’t only allow students express themselves but also encourage socialization which is an important part of education.
  4. Assessing teacher performance before students: sometimes, you may be tempted to give remarks when you come across a teacher carrying out tasks before students. You will not always find your teachers doing what you want them to, giving scolding remarks before students will only reduce teacher authority which is an essential tool for teacher-student communication in the classroom. You may want to keep the steam for the staff meeting.

Your want your school to be one of the best in your region; you want to produce the best students for the highest intellectual endeavours. Keep these tips at heart and watch your school attain all the heights you have in mind.
